I am humbled and honored to be bestowed upon the responsibility of taking over as the President of the Hernia Society of India. I wish to convey my gratitude to the executive committee for showing their faith in me for this prestigious position.
Hernia repair remains one of the most common surgical procedures even today. Annual congresses of the HSI extend a great forum for discussions and review of different surgical techniques of hernia repair with special emphasis on avoiding complications.
A group of like minded hernia enthusiasts from the Asia Pacific region joined hands together and Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS) was formed in September 2004 at Singapore. Going down the memory lane, I feel we have all come a long way as surgeons and have done justice to the objective of the Society that is to promote and advance the teaching and research in hernia surgery in India and the Indian subcontinent.
I am certain that in the future as well; HSI will continue to organize comprehensive training programs, workshops and conferences which shall prove to be great learning experiences for the budding surgeons.
I am thankful to Dr. H.G Doctor, our founder President and Dr. M.G Bhat, our Past President who have carved the path for us by doing an unmatched job of guiding the society to its current position. We have currently more than 850 members in the society.
I look forward to an exciting yet productive tenure of presidency of this esteemed society.
My best wishes to all the members Rajesh Khullar President - Hernia Society of India
